CORINNE & PATRICK

2013

"I moved to DTLA for the same reasons everyone does--a fresh start. I wasn't looking for a relationship (especially in my new workplace), but when I saw Corinne on the first day of my new job, my mind changed. We flirted delicately at first. It wasn't until 3 months later at her birthday shindig at Spring Street bar that I finally dove in. We talked all night. The next day, I invited Corinne to meet Jason+Jamie (my brother and sister-in-law) and a group of good friends for ping pong at The Standard Hotel. That night, there was ping pong, live music, Banksy, burritos... and there was a kiss." -Patrick

All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.

Turns out we knew this was real right away. Before the year was out, we'd started our lives together in Downtown Los Angeles, working together, talking about our futures, and living in a loft on Spring Street in the same building where we had our first "Date."

2015

2015 was a year of intention.

On a February evening we sat on our LA rooftop, glass of wine in hand. As the sun went down, we asked ourselves where we wanted our lives to go. Who should we be? We knew that we could achieve more. It was time to grow. Then and there, we made a pact that by the end of the year, we'd be in new careers. After that conversation, all decisions made were in support of this shared goal. And we both succeeded.

2016

The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you’re uncool.

Everything was new in 2016, and new is at once thrilling and exhausting. We powered through long nights and early mornings of training, grad school, graduation, and the beginning of two new careers. We even celebrated a few victories along the way. This year was precious because though our individual goals+paths+accomplishments were so different,  we leaned on each other to make them real. Suddenly, we had become people that we were proud of.

2018

"Pat proposed on June 28,2018. That night, we met at Mas Malo downtown after work, where we shared an appetizer (tacos) before heading to Baco Mercat for dinner (tapas). Baco has been our go-to in times of celebration--all of our successes, promotions, graduations, anniversaries, etc have been spent there. When Pat suggested it that Thursday night, I wondered if he would propose at dinner, but as we finished each plate, talking only of our upcoming trip to Orlando, the thought of a proposal faded from my mind,"

When it’s over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world in my arms.

Favorite.

"After dinner we headed on foot to the Intercontinental Hotel for a nightcap. En route, Pat redirected our walking path, steering us left off 6th street down flower. As I began to argue about this illogical route, Pat stopped us at the nondescript cement ledge in front of our old haunt (formerly Maria's Restaurant) where we first sat and decided to become boyfriend/girlfriend. In the same place that we first committed five years prior, Pat got on one knee and 'made it official' again." - Corinne
